SENIOR ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL FITTER / SUPERVISOR

Hartex Engineering is a privately owned specialised engineering company that designs and builds vehicle maintenance facilities like workshops and washbays. These facilites are equipped with truck and bus wash machines, water treatement systems, hydraulic piping systems, and vehicle hoists. Our clients are heavy vehicle operators like Toll, Linfox, State Transit and franchise car dealerships like Trivetts and Audi Group. Hartex Engineering also operates a service departament for the ongoing maintenance of the equipment installed at client sites around Australia.

The Role

With an increasing number of client facilities across Australia, the primary responsibility of the role is to support the Service Manager in coordinating our service work, and assisting our team of hydraulic fitters and technicians in diagnosing faults and repairing equipment with efficiency and cost in mind. The roll will ensure maximum productivity of all field equipment based on the needs of our customers. 

The role requires undertaking the following tasks:

• Equipment inspections and the writing of condition reports

• Fault diagnosis of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems

• Onsite staff supervision and hands on support. 

• Hands on electrical and mechanical fitting, and fault correction

• Interpreting parts manuals and schematics

• Soft sell parts and service capability

• Technical advice and assistance to customers in remote locations via telephone

• Junior staff mentoring, training, development and apprentice supervision

• Equipment rebuilds and service delivery

• New machine deliveries

• The ability to provide equipment training to owners and operators is desirable after   in house training

• Work audits and quality control inspections.

The role requires ‘out of hours’ work and will suit a self motivated and driven individual. The demands of the role change constantly depending on our customer’s needs. 

The primary aim of this role is to keep the equipment owned by our customers working, therefore ensuring our customer satisfaction ethos is strongly supported.

The role will be based at the Australian Head Office –in Wetherill Park in Sydney, however some travel away from home may also be required.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a electrical / mechanical maintenance role

• A trade qualification in electrical

• Experience in mechanical fitting or similar

• High level of technical expertise working with hydraulic power packs and electric motors and PLC systems

• Experience in fault diagnosis across key areas including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems

• Experience managing customer relationships

• Experience in parts interpretation

• Ability to read and comprehend technical drawing and schematics

• Supervisory experience

• Experience delivering training to owners and operators of equipment (preferred)

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Character traits which reflect flexibility, problem solving ability and high levels of interpersonal skills

• Strong work and team ethic

• Computer skills including Outlook, Excel and Word
